Buck used to be our neighbor in Pirates Bay. He and his wife were the sweetest people and I will always remember Buck in the utmost respectful and loving way. Hugs to his family!

We met the Weavers through the duplicate bridge game run by Bud Warren at the old senior center across from Baptist Nassau. He and Marge were nice players and fought about their bidding less then most married couples. It was nice to talk Chicago sports with John and find a fellow White Sox fan. We have lost touch over the past few years and feel sad about his passing. We wish all the best for the family.

John “Buck” Ronald Weaver, 86 of Fernandina Beach, Florida passed away peacefully at home on December 12 surrounded by his family.
He was born on February 12, 1936, in Gary, Indiana to the late Earl “Buck” and Mary Catherine Considine Weaver. He grew up in Miller, Indiana and graduated from William A. Wirt High School. He attended Indiana University before he married Marjorie Janz in 1957 and moved to Portage, Indiana.
He worked for Coca Cola for 4 years before joining US Steel where he eventually worked as a Supervisor in the Metallurgical Department for over 30 years.
In Indiana, he served as the president of the PTA, and was active at Nativity Parish Church in Portage, where he served as president of the Men’s Club. In addition, he coached Little League for many, many years. He was an avid sports fan and loved his Chicago White Sox, Blackhawks, and the Bears, but definitely not the Cubs.
After his retirement, the couple moved to Fernandina Beach, Florida in 1995.
He loved his walks on the beach, traveling, cruising and always looked forward to his regular bridge and poker games. He was active with Nassau Baptist Hospital as a volunteer for over 20 years. He liked working with Thea at the Museum where he led historic tours of the downtown area. He was also very involved with St. Michael’s Catholic Church both with the men’s club and as a greeter for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Mary Catherine Weaver, and brothers James, Richard, and Robert. John is survived by his wife, Marjorie of 65 years; 5 children: Susan (Mike) Coon, Ronald (Mary), Lawrence (Gina), Timothy (Mercy), and Richard (DeeDee); 11 grandchildren: Crystal, Ari, Lindsay, Melissa, Matthew, Allison, Lauren, Logan, Luke, Nisha and Kara; 1 great granddaughter, Keira; 1 sister, Judith Lewis and 1 brother, Thomas as well as many nieces and nephews.
A service to remember and celebrate John’s life will be held Friday, February 17, 2023, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church beginning at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Community Hospice of Nassau County or St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Fernandina Beach. John was in Hospice care for 3 years and we would like to recognize Sue Murphy and Stephen Willing who were above and beyond helpful. In addition, Teri Crapps, CNA with Magnolia Grace was extremely compassionate and caring.
